Craftsman Wedge
I had the pleasure of honing up a Craftsman Wedge for a fella. Can't say I had ever seen one before. It reminded me of a Case Rem Imp 132 ( of which I honed along side the Craftsman). Beautiful razor that to a great edge.

I don't recall seeing a Craftsman wedge in the past either. What is stamped on either side of the tang ? I've got some Craftsman that are just stamped Sears & Roebuck with no maker's name, another is stamped Ern on the tang, and etched Craftsman on the belly of the blade. There was one other that I can't recall at the moment. I think they came later than the aforementioned stamps. I'm pretty sure Koeller made Craftsmans that are marked Sears & Roebuck, or Sta-Sharp, but not positive.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Interesting. My Koeller made Craftsmans are marked like that as well. Funny thing is that they are made in Germany yet they aren't marked as such. So they weren't obeying the 1891 trade agreement that stipulated that the country of origin must be marked on the blade. On one of them that came in the original box, the box is marked, "Made With Kayser-Ellison Steel." I know that to be a Koeller for sure. I'll post some pix after awhile.

Ern made them too.
Also, Adolph Kastor's Imperial Razor Co.
The wedge is a new one on me too! But considering how focused my attention has been on stuff made before 1870, that's maybe not very surprising.-Zak Jarvis. Writer. Artist. Bon vivant.

I had one just like this, now I wonder if it's the same one.
Here's the more blingy one I kept (sorry about the oil on the blade):
Enjoy, very fine razor!

Here are some pix of razors I mentioned;
Note the two marked Sta-Sharp, with one branded Koeller, and the other Sears & Roebuck. The Chromized steel versions, shown below, are very nice. Not sure who made 'em.

Here is an Ern made Craftsman and another that is marked Craftsman, with no specific maker's mark.

Thanked: 0Picked up a Craftsman Wedge nearly identical to the one pictured by Wid in 2010. Looks like NOS, no rust, no hone wear. I had never seen this model before, but I had heard that there are (or were) Sears-branded razors. Looks to be of German quality but not labelled "Solingen" or "Made in Germany." Current Sears.com shows a few Dovos and Bokers as well as others of more questionable origin. How old is my razor likely to be? 1980s or maybe '70s?

I have a Craftsman on the way, but I don't think its a wedge. I am enjoying the pictures on this thread. Here is the one that is on the way to me.
