Thanked: 4Hederi and Joseph?
This is actually the first straight I ever bought, about 3 years ago, from an antique store. I didn't know anything about straights then, but I decided I would learn and eventually clean up and hone this one. Unfortunately I lost it when I moved from grad school, but it randomly showed up this weekend and I couldn't wait to clean it up and hone it!
After using Norton 1k, 4k, 8k, Naniwa 12k, .5 micron and strop, I gave it a test shave and it is fantastic! I'd compare it to my Ralf Aust 6/8, which I love.
However, I have never been able to find out anything about Hederi and Joseph, the name inscribed. Anyone else on here have one or know anything about them? I'd love to know about more about my first straight!

They were a barber's supply or hardware concern in New York, I expect. Many German razors were stamped for such resellers. Impossible to say who actually made it, but they mostly all seem good steel. If it shaves good, it is!

I rest my case.

Thanked: 4249Welcome to SRP, David Hederi and Salim Joseph were merchants in New York City around the turn of the century. Obviously like it is stamped on the razor it is from Germany made for Hederi and Joseph, still a high quality piece, Enjoy!
