Thread: Are there fake Thiers Issards?

Hello. Ive discovered a Thiers Issard 6/8 Silver Steel with Red Stamina Scales, but I noticed that the TI brand on the tang is not engraved. Is this a fake TI? Instead it looked like a fading black stamp.

I had one done the same way I have no clue if they are real or not it had a leather sleeve with Theirs Issard on it sorry this wasn't much help but as far I know it was real.

I wonder if it isn't a cost cutting measure they may have gone through lately, or at some time in the past ? I doubt if someone would go to the expense of putting a complicated etching, complete with gold wash, in a conterfeit razor, but I could be wrong. I was wrong once before.

I don't think it's fake. I have a TI and several Dovo Best Quality, and one Henckels Friodur with their logo etched on the shank rather than stamped into the steel. It's probably just a cost cutting measure.

I don't think its fake. Some of the newer razors have the name either etched or laser engraved. It is probably cheaper and quicker.

I guess I should've done a little research before I posted. I was just a little curious about the blade. Thank you guys so much! This forum is great!

We're only guessing the reason. I'm disappointed and hope the laser doesn't wear off.
