Thanked: 0Awesome! I will definitely get some kind of an oil to help prevent rust.
Also, this may be a stupid question, but do the natural oils in our skin do anything to damage the carbon steel? Is it one of those things that you should ALWAYS wash and dry your hands before using?
That should be one of my last questions about maintaining the razor....I hope, lol.

Any carbon based oil is not good, as chemists say, "like dissolves like", so you want a mineral oil.
I use Tuf-Glide, many gun owners use it, it not only protects the razor, but will help remove any moisture.
I use a drop after the razor is dry in the pivot area and store all my razors in a silicone/ballistrol treated razor sock like this:
Here's where I get them:

Thanked: 0I've noticed people are saying to use gun lubes/oils. I own a few firearms myself, so getting something that would be good for both my razor and my guns would be great! Kill two birds with one stone!
This is the sleeve I purchased when I bought my razor..

The oils in your skin are not good for carbon steel. This is because there full of other things like fats and salts. It's why you'll sometimes get a fingerprint of rust on carbon steel, It's nothing to worry about if your using oils and wiping the blade tho, As the oils in our skin take a while to react.
If you want to ensure you don't get this sort of thing you can always use a liquid car polish on a dry blade just to give it a fine hard wax finish. Something like turtle wax sealer wax applied in a thin coat is invisible while giving a bit of protection.
