Default Breakey & Company (Too far gone?)

    Gentlemen,

Browsing an antique store, loved the way this looked and for $10 i took a small chance. In your opinions could it be restored? Would not be restoring myself. There is a chip in the edge, my main concern is the rust/crud.

    Thanks in advance

From what I can see, the nick in the blade can be honed out, and the blade could just use, from the looks of it, some very light sanding to get rid of the rust. I'm no restore pro, but I've had blades in far worse condition come back to life.

Other members with more experience will chime in soon....

The key will be the rust at the edge. is it light or does it go deep? When you hone past the chip you'll find out.

As thebigspendur said you (or someone) will need to hone out the chip and see if you find good steel that will be the only way to know for sure.
