The scales are kirinite. Curious that the material has such mixed reviews...I don't seem to have any issues with mine.

Here's the real kicker: I'm finding that although it is an exceptional shaver, I'm not caring much for the grind. Because of this, I am thinking of replacing it for something full hollow lol

whether it is wedge or extra hollow or any grind in-between it's up to the person using it. I started out completely afraid of the wedge and anything over 4/8. Now I use pretty much any thing. I was told by a friend in the Know that I would have many different favorites before it's over. He was right. I now have 15/16 wedges - 4/8 hollow grinds and many in-between sizes that I really like. I just finished cleaning and honing a Wade and Butcher 6/8 Spanish point and can't wait to use it. if were you I would hang on to that beautiful blade and use something else then in a week or two or even a year you might strike up a love affair with that beautiful little thing. just a thought

Good luck with that "perfect" seven day set, I'll let you know when I find one....hahaha...in all seriousness, with this hobby, the great thing and the great RAD instigator, is that there's always something new to try, something old to rediscover or a new way to do either, as our technique improves and changes over time. Cheers!
