I have a Gold Bug that I picked up at an antiques shop for $20. Had it honed and found it to be a very good shaver. It's in my rotation.

I've had a couple. I don't know anything about the history of them but the couple I've had were excellent shavers.

Thanked: 2284Got one, it's a great razor but I'm terrible with a spike point. I still really like that razor though.

Thanked: 14I have D.R. Droescher's Gold Bug and Classic razors. My Classic is in mint condition and is 90 to 100 years old. Both are thin bladed equivalents to Dubl Ducks. I've come to favor Extra Hollow razors because they give very close shaves and are a pleasure to shave and strop. Their thin blades "sing" during shaving and stropping.
This month, I've been straight razor shaving almost 100% for 2 years. Sometimes when I pickup a favorite razor, especially an Extra Hollow, I can't believe that I'm actually not only straight shaving but enjoy the whole process as much as I do. It all started thru a Dovo shavette, then a Feather Artist Club SS, then to straights. It's been an enjoyable journey.
