    Default Dovo Palisander

Looks like the Dovo Palisander SR is going to be a limited edition, according to the vendor The Superior Shave. Is it worth the price? Or is it just hype?

That Dovo shoulderless blade is common on several iterations in the Dovo's line becoming
more decorated, so to speak, as you move up the $$ scale.
The "Palisander" is indeed a limited production razor made for Superior Shave by Dovo becoming an in house custom. Palisander refers to the wood requested for the scales in the series. That Dovo blade is a profile I like very much and enjoy shaving with. The price point for the Palisander strikes me as very fair.

Now that was useful information. Thanks lz6. I am torn between this and the Dovo Bismarck with the pearloid handle. Both about the same price. I have a black Bismarck and love it.

So I finally made a decision and went with the Bismarck. Since I have the black handle Bis already, it seems like a safe bet because I like its shave. It will be my Yin/Yang team of SRs. Pulled the trigger today because I got an unexpected check. WOOHOO!

The Dovo Palisander gives good close comfortable shaves. It has become one of my favorites because of the elegant unadorned beauty of its blade shape and lustrous wood scales. It's the same blade as the Bismarck without the gold wash which was one of the reasons I bought it as a 2012 Xmas gift to myself. So the choice between the Palisander or the Bismarck boils down to personal preference. Both should perform equally well

Reading what they said at The Superior Shave I figured both were probably equal except for scales and finish. I'll look at a Palisander again soon. But now look forward to my new Bismarck.

I agree and love my Palisander. I prefer it's simple, unadorned elegance.
