    Default Picked up a Torrey

I've heard great things about Torrey razors so I purchased this one. It is a 6/8 wedge and should shave nicely when honed. I've been told the scales may not be original as the wedge for the scales doesn't seem to match the opening for it but it centers nice. I was going to buy a new razor but then considered for the money I could get a really nice old stock much cheaper vs bottom of the line new. Seemed to make sense in my mind so here it is. Hope she doesn't bite

Pretty old Torrey there. Steel should be hard. Don't give up as those shave great and hold an edge!

I was just reading a "Why can't I shave my chin ATG" thread. I admit that's a tough area for me with my preferred flexible, lively full hollow Sheffields. I do have an old, well worn 4/8 Torrey (half hollow?) that is stiff as a board and glides through everything as if on wheels. Once I pick it up it's hard to switch off. I hope you get the same great results from yours!

Thanks everyone. It's out right now to get honed. Once it's back I'll let you know how she feels

I got the razor back today and it shaves awesome. This was the smoothest shave I've had yet and I'm very happy with my purchase and choice on honing service. I haven't been shaving with a straight for very long but I can only imagine that this is what it's supposed to feel like and why this forum was created.

Torrey's make for great shavers. You have a fine example.
