    Default Moshy & Rahaim Razor

I am a complete newbie to straight razor shaving, I have been shaving with a DE for a number of years and have been wanting to delve into straight razor shaving for some time.

The opportunity has presented itself in the form of a couple of razors that were given to me recently by my 96 year old uncle. One of them in particular I am curious as to whether I even want to shave with it due to possible collector value (photo's attached).

    Uncle Sam
Moshy & Rahaim, Made In Germany
    Registered Trademark 39739

    100 1/2

This is still very sharp leading me to believe it has never been used, no nicks or dings.....

It is in a case (sorry no photos yet), but I am not 100% positive that it is for this razor.

Any help with identifying and valuing this piece?

    Welcome to SRP!

Moshy & Rahaim, was located in New York city from 1902 to 1908, importers, like your razor made in Germany.

Sorry my friend, no estimates of value on SRP in open forum.

What you have is a dandy razor made in Germany, probably Solingen, exported to the US and branded with some retailers name. Hard to see detail from pics, but it looks like it should be a snap to hone and use. It should be a nice shaver. Here's hoping you use it as such. Any monetary value the razor may have is exceeded by the value it has to you as a family heirloom. Hone that baby up and get to shavin"!

There are eight million stories in the Naked City, this is just one of them.
You never know what you will see on SRP. I like that about the forum.

Thanks to all for the replies, didn't mean to overstep anything by asking value, mostly curiosity. I did receive two others as well as a leather strop to get going!

    Thank you,

Mostly curiosity as to value, more interested in the history, what the materials are in the construction (I think the insert is ivory?). I di get two very nice razors that are everyday shavers (as soon as I learn not to take off a layer of skin).

That's a beautiful razor. If you have two others they may be better for learning with. After you get used to caring for the others give it a try.
