    ________________________________

I found this Fontenille brass frameback razor at the bottom of the pile recently. Not sure where I got it but decided to hone it and see how it shaves. Well, it shaves great and is easy to manipulate.

Can anyone help with the history of Fontenille razors. I have heard the name but don't know anything about the brand. I will appreciate any info regarding this razor. Thanks.......

It's a maker from Thiers in France, in buissness arrround 1850 till 1970 I guess. His number in the table of registration of Thiers was "134", before the mark was also a sabot (a wooden shoe)

Sorry MrSell, I don't want to "jack" your thread but this is all very interesting.
It surprises me that in this condition it could be that old?
Must be new scales don't you think.

Bongo, I didn't think I would get away with this one,......thank you. will definitely advise when I get to try it out.

Well, I don't think so.. Black horn scales with bone spacer are typical of the french production of the nineteenth century. But I think it was possibly restored by the seller.

It's true that this razor is in a really beautiful condition !
