Thanked: 2Anyone else have one?
I recently won a wade and butcher 6/8ths extra hollow ground razor on ebay and I have had a few w&B's which I typically assoiciate with big wedges. Anyway anyone else have one of these guys and can tell me how it shaves. I don't have it yet obviously and I will have to hone it which I prefer anyway. Pretty much any hollow ground style razor I have owned has been really easy to hone but I have never had an extra hollow. Just wondering what to expect.

Thanked: 1184My first W&B restore was a 13/16 hollow. Honed easy enough. About took my chin off with it first test shave. I wasn't used to the width and coming down from the lip I ran out of room to adjust angle. I use an even bigger Satinedge now but that ole' W&B still scares me when I pull it out. :<0) It shaves great though. I think your gonna love it.

Thanked: 2I tend to do better with a big ol wedge which I know is backwards lol. I can use anything from a 6/8ths to an inch and not even irritate my skin but a 5/8ths can have me bleeding from everywhere. The worst cut I ever had was the crease of my nose when my one year old daughter walked in and hugged my leg. I thought I was going to bleed out before I got it stopped. I was finishing up my ATG on my cheek when she got me and I was using a little 9/16ths Simmons Hardware No.8 Special. Amazing little shaver almost had me going Michael Jackson but it was definitely a bittersweet memory of my baby girl!

Thanked: 1184I use a lot of different sizes and it seems to me the smaller ones I can whip around the face faster, leaving more room for error. So I concentrate on going slower. It's like the difference between driving a Cobra and a Kenworth . They both go down the same roads you just have a tendency to be more careful driving the bigger 1 :<0)

Thanked: 2That's about as good of an anology that you could really use! I for some reason really like the Simmons Hardware razors especially my barbers pet. A lot of it is what I got used to more than anything. My barbers pet is a 5/8ths and I can get a great close shave with it and my Greaves is another I can do very well with. The Greaves is a full 7/8ths Wedge but it just seems like it fits my jawline better than most. I have a crazy square jawline and since I'm young I have trouble pulling skin above it. You would think that a smaller blade would be easier for me but it's in fact quite the opposite. I also tend to over do it with a smaller blade and irritate my skin. No matter how many times I use a razor less than 5/8ths I can't break the bad habit of over shaving my jawline.
