Ralf Aust Razor
Good Morning.
Having had great success with my first Ralf Aust razor I decided to buy a second. I trust it is on the way. I am really hoping this is what shows up.
There is really no reference to it on the current Aust site. I did include pictures when ordering and Herr Aust seemed to have a handle on what I was asking about...I suppose I'll know for sure when it arrives. It seems to be a version of the "American" head, but the razors of that style on the Aust site lack the bevels found up by the toe (as seen on the above picture).
Has anyone seen this razor in person? I find it to be a remarkably good looking blade and for the asking price (even with shipping) all indications are it's going to be a real winner. Kind of like buying a pig in the proverbial poke here, but I'm sure one way or the other all will be good. If anyone has other pictures of this razor though or knows anything about it..any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any assistanceLast edited by Phoenix51; 05-21-2014 at 12:59 PM.

It's a beauty, and I love my R. Aust's, but mine are all plainer (but great shavers). Can you explain the process that you went through to order directly through them? I have looked, but been stymied by my lack of knowledge of the German language, and my lack of knowledge about shipping, customs, duties, etc.

Sure...
They are set up for direct sales on their website http://rasiermesser-manufaktur.de/
The page is in German but it is easily translated using "Google Translate" or something similar.
You essentially go to the appropriate section of the site, choose your razor "build" options, then add to cart and go to checkout. PayPal seems to be the preferred means of payment. After the checkout process, you receive an invoice and the razor should ship a few days after that (if it's in stock). No idea how long shipping takes. I ordered on May 17...was told it will be dispatched today.
In all it's a pretty simple process I think. Only other source I have seen for Ralf Aust razors is SRD and they seem to sell out fairly quickly. Small wonder. I think the Aust blades are easily a better product than the majority of production razors out there, very competitively priced too. I am really looking forward to the new one.
Regards.........

Very nice razor. Bought one on SRD and it's been a great shaver. Lynn put a great edge on it.

I've got two from SRD, a 5/8 and a 6/8 stainless. They are both great shavers! Had one of the best shaves of my SR "career" with the 6/8 today.

Thanked: 15Gents:
Those razors are just the best. The 1st one I got was from rasurpur in Germany. It was a 5/8, by mistake I sold it. I got one from SRD and is a 6/8. Same quality of razor. To me the razor market is divided in just 4 accessible brands. Boker, Wacker, Ralf Aust and TI.
Thanks

Got a 6/8 French point Ralf Aust from SRD and it is great. Lynn put a primo edge on it.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
