    Default Purchasing a singing blade.

    Hi all,

I never had the pleasure of shaving with a singing blade.

I've been trying to find and buy an extra hollow ground razor from ebay.

I ask the sellers for a picture of the blades front in order to make sure

that the blades are extra hollow ground.

I have a gif file with pictures of an extre hollow ground razor to a true wedge.

The things is that the picture of the extra hollow ground blade is not the same

with the picture of the razors on ebay.

The pics of the razors on ebay seem to me as a 1/2 ground razors.

    I'd really appreciate any help.

    Thanks a lot.

Full Hollow German/Solingen Barber Supply house blades rebranded for USA based Barber Supply companies are really good selections that are often in very good condition are great generally. Do an eBay search for 11/16 Barber Supply blades. They will sing!

One more thing...if you are patient, one of my favorite "singing" brands is S.R. Droescher. They can be snagged for a fair price but it may take time. They have very hollow grinds and spike points that are delicious and sharp! The "Black Smith" model of theirs is one of my all time favs. Sings on the strop!

Another very hollow ground razor is a DD No.1 Special, the cheap duck, and was a barbers favourite in the old days according to some. I'd even swear mine is hollow ground enough to be bellied, at least I believe I can feel it.

Then there is always a Korn double hollow.

Boker's "Silver Steel" 6/8 Extra Hollow sings like the Fat Lady. Another vocal razor is a Ralf Aust full hollow. I am certain the grind on my Aust is closer to extra than full. As all these are ground by hand, there must be some variances for sure.

For what its worth, i have a JR Torrey "extra hollow ground" that is nearly silent. The Henckels #50 that i have is super loud.
