    Thanks for the detailed reply. Looking at the razor it looks most like the second from the top in the bottom picture. Cool to know it's likely English. Although I thought most English razors were Sheffield. What do you think about the wood scales?

    There were a lot of Sheffield manufacturers, but there were many in other areas such as London, Birmingham, Manchester etc as well. The scales are probably not original as wood is in practice very rarely used for scales, those look to me homemade but it's difficult to say just looking at the pictures.

    Doesn't look much like a faux frameback to me - just look at the tip, it has plenty of metal whereas a faux frameback would be quite thin below the spine.

    It is what it says on the tang - a concaved (hollow ground) razor.
