Are there any stampings on the back side of the blade? Any kind of markings in the covered shank etc. (Look carefully)!

The maker may never be known, as there were so many 'small shops' that were formed after leaving a larger firm. However they took what they had learned and made some damn fine shavers!

It does look like it has celluloid scales and probably the same on the covered shank.
Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

That is a neat looking razor! I can't be of much help but, if you can read what it says in the light print on the tang it may help to print that out in case that is a clue that tips someone off. ?? The spine seems to have a different shine/patina compared to the rest so I wonder if the detailed spine-work was done later... Or, if it was just cleaned differently there. ?? No real idea though.

Hope someone has some details for you... Very cool looking razor with a beautiful smile... Bet she shaves like a machine once fixed up!!!

What ever it is it does look like a keeper. I would even guess that the scales might be ivory.

I found Speculand in two places in the Edinburgh listings

""Cover of: Edinburgh and South of Scotland trades' directory, including the counties of Berwick, Edinburgh, Haddington, Linlithgow, Peebles, Roxburgh, and Selkirk; also a gazetteer of Scotland by Directories. - Edinburgh
Edinburgh and South of Scotland trades' directory, including the counties of Berwick, Edinburgh, Haddington, Linlithgow, Peebles, Roxburgh, and Selkirk; also a gazetteer of Scotland
    Published 1900 in Edinburgh . ""
Full text of "Edinburgh and South of Scotland trades' directory, including the counties of Berwick, Edinburgh, Haddington, Linlithgow, Peebles, Roxburgh, and Selkirk; also a gazetteer of Scotland"
    as
    Hardware merchants on Mary Street.
    Jewelers and also as hairdressers.
Another listing showed Irish cutlery antecedents in 1850
