Default Help identifying new razor (Ultima Strongbeard)

Greetings and thank you for checking this out.

I picked this razor up through Reddit's Shave_Bazaar from a gentleman in Holland and am hoping you kind shavers may be able to help me out with any details on it.

The original seller (ebay guy) had very little info to offer my guy (Reddit guy). The only markings on it are "40" and "Ultima" (apparently the model# and make) on the tang and "STRONGBEARD" across it's face with a cool deco pattern. But it was NOS at the time of sale.

I've dug/searched at least 10 pages deep on Google, Bing, and anything else I could pull up and could not find anything. If anyone has any idea about this blade's origins, approximate date of manufacture, or any other information on it, I would greatly appreciate it.

Here is the information he had to offer me (if it helps):
"I can say it is a razor from 'the past' instead of a current production razor. I'd say that this razor comes from around 1980. It's a carbon blade... I got this from an Italian ebay seller. I won one razor, lost another. The sale didn't go through so he offered me the razor I lost the bid on initially plus he offered the Ultima as well... It was NOS at the time. Now that I've honed and used it it's no longer NOS of course, just honed properly with about 3 shaves on it."

Thank you for your time and shave on.

Not very helpful info was it? Have you checked the library here? I have been able to identify several razors that way.

Ya, I'm sure it's more info than others might have on their own razors but I just wanted to take a stab at it. See if anyone had any info.

I did try searching "Ultima" and "Strongbeard" but nothing other than folks with "strong beards" or "ultima"-te razors.

Fritz Henkler, cutlery and knife maker of Nurtingen, Germany made a straight razor called the Ultima, but it had 'Henzler' on the tang and 'Ultima' in gold-etch on the blade. The model number was 40 and it was a 5/8. One sold on Ebay a while ago - it was supposed to be pre-1940.

The company site says it has a 140 yr old tradition, and it still sells cutlery today - no straights, though. Nurtingen is in Baden-Wurttemburg.

May very well NOT be the company, though.

    Regards,
    Neil

Awesome. That's the most promising lead I've gotten so far. I'll look into it and report back. Thank you.
