So help, if I'm lyin' I'm diein' ....... my refrigerator kicks on, or my AC and I hear music, usually Black Gospel ....... not kidding, I love the old '50s stuff and have listened to it enough to play it in my head. Swan Silvertones, Soul Stirrers, Five Blind Boys Of Mississippi.

I'll be sitting in my lazy boy with my feet cranked up, or at the computer, and when one of those motors is running I'll hear music and lyrics in a subtle drone. Sort of as if it was coming through the wall, my neighbor playing it. This has been going on the past few years of the 10 I've lived here. Sort of like the tinnitus I've had for the past 30+ years, I'm used to it and I'm only rarely conscious of the birds chirping.

Great thread, fellows. I would have chimed in by now, but know nothing of chemical things. Mike, that steam engine is remarkable. You are fortunate to have time and skills to participate in that. Love to see old machinery run!
On the celluloid, it seems I read where Case or some other maker had the roof on the celluloid building hinged so as the explosion came, it would flip the roof open and it could be closed again. Thanks for these words and banter, Gentlemen. Quite good reading!

A fellow I knew in the Navy had transferred to our ship from a minesweeper. I asked him why the overheads of the pilot houses of mine sweepers were always made simply of canvas instead of steel like every other was ship in the darn Navy. He explained this was in case the ship would detonate a mine, the bridge team would be blown through the canvas instead of becoming greasy smears on the steel overhead.

I laughed so hard I though I was going to have a baby.

JimmyHAD: I went with Cherry Ball because the only other one I could remember was "Devil Got My Woman" and it's been played out since "Ghostworld"...
