Thanked: 25My blade developed black freckles.
On a couple of razors the blades developed these small black spots like freckles.
I think I narrowed the cause down to my Norton stone. I keep it in a tub of water.
It got a bit slimy, so I added bleach to a fresh batch of water.
Does bleach have this type effect on razors?
One blade was new and developed the spots while honing. None before starting, and a bunch before the end of the session.

I have a single grit norton that I keep in a rubbermaid container filled with water. The sealable lid keeps the slime away. The 8k doesn't need soaking, so the single grit is convenient that way. I would suggest soaking that hone in a large bucket to try to get the bleach residue out of it. Then, either use a sealable container if you're going to keep it in water, or let it dry in between honing sessions and only soak it beforehand. Alternatively, if you keep it in water in a bucket, change the water every few days, or at least weekly.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
