    Default Pakistan

Really can't spell to well but a friend gave me some old razors one of which was a Messerscmidt 1200 with OMOR on the scales that looks like it has never been used. all the razors from there that I've seen didn't look this good. anyone have any information on this razor. It's a 3 pin razor. He also gave me a wade and butcher a wostenholme and some other razors that was 4/8 in size. thanks.

From what I've heard the Messerschmitt is a cheap Paki blade that won't hold an edge. Good for practicing to strop with, or practicing pinning on. I haven't actually tried one.
The wade and butcher and wostenholme are both good manufacturers.

Chance are not good it's good. Pics will help ID it but if I had to bet sight unseen I am betting against. I think I have heard of some fine Damascus coming out of Pakistan a long time ago but not razors. I didn't bet, so hope I am wrong.

Sadly, the Pakistani razor is a fake on two levels: a sort of "double whammy" of a fake if you like,

Firstly, altough they cunningly made it resemble a razor, there the similarity ends. It is made poorly, from poor steel, and cannot shave.

Secondly, the intention to con is strengthened by using the name of a genuine German maker. They did this a lot at one time, the rotten, cynical, tripe purveyors of scrap iron.

I personally think that the makers of such rubbish should be hunted down and have their nads hacked off with their own blunt, useless, razor shaped objects. That would teach them to make something that held a decent edge, if nothing else.

    Regards,
    Neil
