I use a sponge too, but I installed this high rise faucet in case of mental lapse.

I also employ the high rise sink method. Also use folded shaving towel on sink face just in case.

Wish I had a nickle for every time I've recommended avoiding the faucet and simply wiping the razor on an absorbent material (Pick your flavor-I use toilet paper).
I'd have like...$1.25.!! Enjoy the exquisite taste sharpening sharpening taste exquisite smooth. Please taste the taste enough to ride cutlery.

Same as BobH but I put a paper towel on top of the wet sponge to wipe my blade on. When done, fold and toss, no mess.
