New Find, Bad Spelling?
Found this one today measures 7/8, if I'm measuring right. On the tang is "QUALITE EXTRA" and the number 14. Jimps on top and bottom. No chips or bad places on the blade. The scale has piece broken off at the pivot end, pivot hole is good. broken piece is the tip of scale. Do any of you esteemed gentleman know what i have here (besides the obvious "looks like a razor"). Thanks.

"Qualité" is the fench equivalent of "Quality".
Probably a french razor. The 14 is most likely a reference to the model, size or trademark.
Hang thight, someone will come along shortly with way more.

It is a French razor. I've seen one before somewhere, but I can't remember where.

Kuntuckygent, from what I can determine from the photo, your razor is in relatively good shave. There is some hone wear and some patina, but I'm sure an expert restorer will work wonders with the razor. Soon one of our historians should chime in with information about the razor.

If you take a look in the razor clubs section you will find a thread devoted to blades with 14 in the stamp. There are various theories about what it signifies and you may find a similar razor listed.
