Orphan in the mail box
I arrived home about 9pm after a long day at work and as per my usual routine I checked the mail. Usually I only find bills or junk mail or both with the occasional expected eBay purchase. But tonight I found a box that I was not expecting and upon opening it I found a brand new Ralph Aust "Solinger Handarbeit", and I have no idea where or whom it came from. Well, I do "know" where it came from but not the who because of the return address. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised and then defensive because my wife wanted to know how much I had spent on it. It took a little explaining but I was able to convince her that I had not purchased it and that it had to have been a PIF from some unknown benefactor. So, to whomever sent me this wonderful gift, thank you, and I do hope that it was someone from here. Regardless, the PIF will continue on at the next available opportunity I have

It must not have been much of a previous life. I am honored tho that someone thought enough of me to send me such a beautiful razor that will definitely be going into rotation.

Thanked: 884Had a nice visit with guitstik on the phone the other day. As both of have done the same job for about the same number of years each, I can honestly say, he's served his time in Hell. As he is still in that field of endeavor, I think he's still serving. I ran away from that life a few years back.
About the best I can say about that life is that it is months upon months of boredom punctuated by moments of stark f'n terror.

So Wullie sent it? What a wonderful gesture. And yes, he does have the best stories. If I ever get to Texas, I want to come see him, maybe with a bottle of Mescal and a tape recorder (well, maybe not the recorder).

No, I don't believe that Wullie sent it because it was not post marked Texas. Besides, I think he would have told me.
Tequila, and lots of it. My new favorite is Corzo.Last edited by guitstik; 07-23-2014 at 03:44 AM.

Thanked: 884Spoken to me at a bar in Galway. "TEQUILA! 'Tis a madman's drink! You should be drinkin' GLENLIVET!" I tossed back my shot, and told the gent, he was ABSOLUTELY correct and ordered a Glenlivet on the rocks.
As for Tequila? I GOTS PEOPLE! One of my old contractors has family going to or coming from Meheeco every week. I think he's related to half the country. When my stash runs low, I call Rogelio and place an order. Cazadores, Cien Anos Puro, Herradura, El Jimador, and Coralejo are my favorites. El Jimador is the smoothest to me, but I like 'em all. Coralejo in the tall skinny blue bottle is the wildest tasting. It's different but it GOOD.
NOT Guilty yer honor..
The mescal idea sounds like fun. Have been known to shoot out the lights when under the influence of over indulgence in said medicine in the past.
