    As I understand it, Mr. Webster agrees with you (I do believe the dictionary is in fact the final authority in issues such as these). Hence I have to agree with you as well Neil. I think the "confusion" on the use of the word (for me at least) focuses on the level of "uniqueness" or "one-of-a-kind" factor when the terms come into play. And that I believe shall always be somewhat subjective. Hmmm, small wonder English is often regarded as one of the most difficult languages to learn.
