    Default W&B Spine Parallel Line

In post #12 today by OBIE you can see a parallel line (with the spine) at the toe of the razor just at the top of the barber's notch. I recently acquired a W&B with a similar line at about exactly the same place. I could guess that it has something to do with regrinding but it would be a guess backed up by a dearth of knowledge.
Does anyone know anything about this mysterious line?
Oh, and Obie's W&B is about a jillion times more majestic than mine.
Sorry, yes I was referring to the SOTD post today.

Do you have a link to that thread?

I assume this is it in the SOTD http://straightrazorpalace.com/shave...ml#post1375905

    WW243,

I think that you're referring to Obie's SotD post?

A bunch of my razors have a similar mark...I've always assumed that it's simply corrosion that indicates where the scales rest against the closed blade???

    WW,
The spine on both razors is tapered on both sides and gives the impression of a parallel line. Is that what you're speaking about?

Exactly, I have the same line, only longer and I am sure I have seen it elsewhere.

It's just corrosion as was already mentioned. From very mild, surface pitting to pitting.

    Gentlemen,

I see what you mean. On my Wade & Butcher ivory set, that is a wee bit of Ballistol oil that appears like a line; otherwise, the blade is clear crisp throughout.

Well presently I don't have my W&B so I could not tell you if it is an impression of a line or in fact essentially an etch into the steel. I hope you don't consider this a criticism of your incredible razors....just something I have noted.

    WW,

No, not at all, I do not consider your comment as criticism. On the contrary, I commend you for your keen observation.
Yes, looking at the photo carefully, I, too, see the little line, but as I noted, it is the Ballistol oil.
