    That is some patina Joan, i don't how I guessed I think I might have worked it out from guessing a blade length of 3" and working from that, and it didn't look 7/8" it is nice to know I am getting my eye in
    So the owner sent it to you just to look at?

    He did! Along with an 1800's historic knife from the Qld gold fields. We had more success digging up info on the history of the knife ... and it was a pleasure to have been able to photograph and then return the goodies with some extra information for the owner. He added the razor in the pack as a bonus for me to check out as he knew I was 'into' razors and was collecting as much info on razors found in Australia as I can.
    Nice eh!
