Should I stay or should I go? (on a Filarmonica)
Hey guys, so I was searching the web the other night and found this in a website that is some sort of ebay in my country. It's a Filarmonica 13 Doble Temple. It has a bit of rust on it. Are the Filly's that better than the Dovo's (which I own 2)? Just wanted your opinion before hitting the "go" button. Thanks and take care!!!

Thanked: 284William- they don't allow appraisals on the forum, so I can't speak to that. But I will say that I can attest to the smooth shave that Fillys provide. They are a benchmark to a lot of shavers out there for shaving comfort.

Let me save you some waiting: no one is going to comment on the cake of that razor...it's against this site's policy.
What you will hear is that the razor is worth whatever you think it's worth, and that you can try and check the auction site to see what similar razors have sold for.
Good luck! When you are dead, you don't know that you are dead. It's difficult only for the others.
It's the same when you are stupid.

There are certain "hot" razors out there that command high prices because there is demand for them. Whether you think the asking price is "fair" is up to you to determine. it may be an investment decision or you may just want it. Filly's are very good razors but are they better than a Dovo? I think the vintage Dovo's are the equal of anything out there and they don't go for these prices.

William,
Yes, valuation is against policy on this forum; therefore, I will close the thread.

William,
Thank you for editing your post. As I noted earlier, valuation is not allowed here. Now I don't see any reason to keep the thread closed.

The Filarmonica is a fantastic blade, I'd rate them as one of the best shavers out there, and I'm particular to the old Sheffield razor's. I have 3 Filly's, and they are simply outstanding blades.
Now in my opinion, and my opinion only, comparing a Filarmonica to a Dovo is kinda like comparing a Mercedes to a VW...that's my two cents, hope this helps!

I see where you're going with that and would agree.
The Dovo Bismarck I have and the Filly have been honed by the same person, and again, it's a case of YMMV, but compared to the Filly, the Dovo just seems not quite there for me compared to pretty much most of my other blades. To be honest, I prefer my Dovo Best Quality over the Bismarck, but still the Filly easily is a better shave for me, than the Dovo's, and all my blades have been honed by the same person.
