Thumbs up So my wife asked what I was doing -

I was shaving with the Henckels Friodur 5/8 #451 that I purchased from DaveW on here , and I didn't really notice anything until the wife said something , but it kind of made a musical out of my shaving. It didn't have the same sound as any of my other blades at all. She likened them to a scraping sound. The Friodur was making tings and dings with each different sized hair.

It may not have been the most beautiful blade due to the improper attempt at honing previously , but it makes up for it in shave and audible quality.

DaveW , thanks for the special razor !!

That racket is why I like the heavy grinds.

I like the shave of singing blades. I feel like I have more control of the shaving process.

Yes - those singing razors are superb...my favorites, and then of course I also love the bass of the wedges...the low rumbling through the whiskers that sounds like tanks rolling over your beard.

Ah, the cacaphony of hirsute cutting is clamorous to my soul. A wish for a razor that sings many ranges instead of only an aria solo.

The closer the spine is to your face the quieter the razor , any razor. Also the longer the edge will last.

"Of course, if you haven't put a good edge on the razor, when you lay it flat it won't shave at all, and you will have to raise the angle. But shaving with an edge like that is a mistake." ~ Kousuke Iwasaki
