Jakobs: a very interesting article on the boiler explosion. I can certainly appreciate how different things were on those days. Thankfully we learned better ways for the most part.

engine46: thanks for the history lesson on the company. If you can send any more by PM I would be happy to read through it.

Martin103: interesting to see the trade mark document showing the 2 different trade marks used. The razor I restored has the Shaveesi ribbon stamped on the tang. Is there any information on whether this was the preferred mark for razors or did it vary through the years.

I will post some pics soon just to show what I have managed to do.
I believe the Shaveesi razor was for a certain time period according to my book. It has about a page & a half write up. If you send me your email address in a pm, I can take pics of the two pages & send them via email & you should be able to read them easily that way. My pics come out big in emails.

The finished item below had brass liner glued to the scales and aluminium wedge
The brass liner was added due to the back scale having a crack across the hinge pin
Repaired the crack using sanding dust from the Horn scales and Araldite to glue them together
Pity the pics don't show this up too well
My friend is happy with the result and will be getting a nice display box made for it

    Thanks Steve

The pics arrived and are clear enough to read the documents.
    Certainly worth the effort

Great Ricky, I'm glad they did!!! They wouldn't have come through if I had used the forum to email you. You are most certainly welcome anytime. Just let me now if I can be of any help again. The restore looks great! I'm sure he'll be very happy with the end results considering all the hard work you did to restore it. I love it & I'm sure many others will as well. Excellent job well done!

That said the only trademark registration for Shaveesi (not shavesi)that i found was from 1909.

Interesting that the information i found claimed that the company became Limited in 1912, after posting i realize that the trademark registration from 1909 had the name Southern & Richardson Limited. Perhaps Mr Miller can clear this up!
