Hi dooey, you may care to check out some of the British razors. Both the Bengall and Invicta razors can be great shavers but most of the examples on the market are very worn; keep your eye out for good ones both at flea markets and on ebay. Some of the best British razors are the ones that were never imported to Australia on a large scale, these include those made by Wade & Butcher, Joseph Rodgers, John Heiffor and Frederick Reynolds among others. The SRP classifieds and the aforementioned auction site are your best bets here.

There were many good American makers but I'm not remotely qualified to name them. I'm sure our American members will provide excellent advice. Good luck and let us know what you find

Dooey, there are several American manufacturers that I'd like to suggest to you. JR Torrey Worcester Mass is a favorite for many. King Razor Mfg Indiana PA, Robeson, WR Case, Union Cutlery Co, Burrell...all sweet shavers. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the quality of shave that these brands give. PM me and I can help guide you towards some specific models that I've had good experiences with. I'm sure other folks will continue with suggestions as well.

Have a look at getting two or three nice razors from each of the big razor making areas of the world (Sheffield, Thiers, Eskiltuna, Solingen, Spain, Japan, Little Valley etc). You can also look at razors from different eras (early 1800's through to the 1950's), and different grinds (wedges, framebacks, full hollows, kamisori etc).

Nice. USA razors from back 'in the day' are great. Equal to any and better than many .... (poet and I don't know it) .... The thing that strikes me is you seem to have an eye for quality and condition. Those are the main criteria for putting together a collection IMHO.

Look for KROPP they were and are a good shaving razor. Nothing fancy but a top quality working man's UK razor. Very much under the radar!
