    Gentlemen,

My razor and my two-year-old grandson's. Start them early, is what I say.

Obie, are you saying that Assyrians develop shavable facial hair that early in life? Hows his motor control at that age?

Ah, my dear friend, young Henry has his own brush and mug already, as well as a double edge razor, a Yuma without blade. Now comes his own straight razor, with dulled blade, of course.

In ancient Assyria, the young were trained early in warfare. That's why the Assyrian infantry, cavalry war chariots were formidable. Some youngsters were trained as scribes and some apprenticed with artisans.

Ancient Assyrians generally are depicted in sculptures and artifacts as sporting heavy beards. I definitely have inherited that specific trait of my ancestors. Lynn says I have "tree trunks" for a beard.

Obie, I think you should swap with him, your razor looks a little on the small side.

Yes, yes, I must discuss the swap with him. What a great idea.

Fantastic, Obie. If/when you happen to get a photo of the little lumberjack falling the timber - pls. post. I can't remember who had one (Rick Boone?), but I'd seen one other w/ a DE. 'Cute as heck. You'll be glad you got the shot & he'll sure have a smile when he looks at it decades from now. Thx for posting this one.

What a fortunate lad to grow up with you for a grandfather. I sat for hours watching my Norwegian grandfather shaving, and would have been thrilled to shave along side of him with that little razor.

By the time he's ten, he'll have a full beard!

Nice! There's nothing like a grandad, especially one who makes the effort to involve you like that. I remember my grandfather making me a fake rifle out of a bit of wood and a broom handle. I still have it downstairs, 40 years on and I remember that day and my grandfather every time I see it. You're giving him special memories of a special man to him, and he'll remember these times for the rest of his life.
