A razor with an extra-long tang, reminescent of a monkey tail.

They were only made for a couple of years and surprisingly were not that popular. Wostenlolm, W&B and a few others made them. I believe early 1900's. I think they are pretty cool.

That's about the only feature I like on the AC. I wish more razors were like that. I have small hands for a guy and some razors still freak me out with their tiny tang. Big handed guys have my sympathies

Thanks for all the info . I beleive I have a monkey tail razor . The end of the tang is 34mm from the pivot pin , and the tang is gently curved and tapers to a rounded point at the end . The tang is stamped Colley & Co. , 98 Arundel St. , Sheffield , and there is also a trade mark of two crossed swords with "S" over top of them . The blade is a "meat chopper" style , 20mm wide at the heel and 23mm wide at the tip , with a very slight hollow grind .

I thought you might be interested in some links with info about Colley & Co.

Originaly listed at 98 Arundel street in 1833 trading as 'Henry Edward & James Colley' Scissors Manufacturers they were then listed in 1834 as trading in the name of 'Colley & Co.' 98 Arundel street, 'Razors, Shears and Scissor Manufacturers', although the last listing of 'Colley & Co.' at 98 Arundel street is 1837 the general consensus from 'razor historians' is that they ceased trading as 'Colley & Co.' in 1844

You can find out more about the Colley family businesses here:
