JR Torrey
Any of ya fellers have any info/experience on these razors? 1890's-1900? Thinking about picking one up. What do y'all think would be a fair price for one in decent condition?

That is a tough call. Any where between 25-60 should be easy to find.

Thanked: 4827One of the really nice thing about Torrey razors, other than they are great shavers, they are a really great value. They often sell for much less than a lot of the blades of their day. I have picked a few up in the $30-60 range. As always size and condition are big determining factors.

I picked one up at a local antique store for $25. It has a shoulder-less grind and an etch, "our 136." I think it's very nice.

It is tough steel and holds up well. The only downside is they can be hard to hone.... They have become my favorite so far.

Hands down a great razor. Sometimes they can get priced through the roof but in general they're fairly affordable and damned nice shavers. A little tough to hone sometimes but that just means they'll hold an edge longer. I have quite a few and absolutely no complaints at all - ever. Whenever i see one o the bay that's not mangled I buy it for restoration at some point. To date all that I've cleaned up and/or re-scaled are among my most comfortable blades.
