    Default Blade Materials

    Anyone have any tips - other than "try them all" - on filtering through the different materials some of the mainstream DE blade providers use? Stainless vs Platinum vs Chrome, etc. I have pretty sensitive skin so if there is one or two of the materials I know I should probably stay away from it would make finding the ultimate fit for me a little easier.

    If you are asking about DE , I don't know, straight razor I will try stainlees, Friodur and see how is going, I did now feel any difference , carbon or stainless, the grind is more important.

    Best advice I can give is try a blade sampler pack. Over the years, reading threads where guys were asked which blades they liked, and which they didn't like, I've been amazed at some of the answers. When it comes to DE blades what is good for the goose isn't necessarily good for the gander.

    I like Feathers, the old Gillette platinum "Swedes" best. Not sure if the old Swedes are still around but some guys tout other blades as being as good. Anyway, what I like doesn't mean that someone else will like it. Go through a sampler and you'll find some winners and some losers.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
