    Default They have arrived!

    Hello Gents!

I also posted this in the beginners section, but also thought I would share here as well. I'm pretty excited!

After a couple of weeks of anticipation, they have arrived. I can't wait to shave with one of them tomorrow. The top is a 5/8 J.A. Henckels #76 and the bottom is a 9/16 Peaso #25. In addition to them arriving I also received my Straight Razor Designs paddle strop and some lime Castle Forbes today, not to mention my bottles of Thayer's witch hazel that came yesterday. Overall the past month has been busy for the mail lady at my house I'm so excited to get up tomorrow and shave!

I understand your excitement and looking at your razors rightly so. Just remember to calm down when they get close to the face. Enjoy your first shave.

I pulled them both out of the stable this morning for the first shave. While I only focused on the side burn/side of face areas to gain confidence; I didn't draw blood, but both tugged/pulled more then I expected. I guess there are various opinions of "shave ready." I decided not to push it and figured that I would strop them before the next use. I decided not to strop them prior to using them due to reading a lot of info about not to strop first with a "shave ready" razor. Though their was some disappointment, overall it went well and I am still stoked about them.

Before you start blaming the razor see if you can get with a mentor near you to evaluate them. How did you come by those razors? If it was off of the bay then they might be suspect but if they came from a member here I would look at your shaving technique.

I totally agree. I did get them off of Ebay and was leery about the "shave ready." I also think that there is some technique issues as well being I'm fresh out of the gate with using a straight. My current plan is getting with someone in town that I have found and talking with them as well as trying them out of the strop before my next use.
