Thanked: 2Boker or No Boker
Hi everyone, If I am posting this in the wrong place then my apologies,,, I have got my hands on a pair of boker razors and was hoping somebody here could tell me a bit more about these razors.... and if they are Fakes, (after honing and shaving with one, I am now pretty sure that they Are the real deal) But the spelling on the tang of the razors kinda threw me off for a while.. hence the confusion and the questions...
My eyes are always drawn first naturally to the blades,, for rust,, pitting ect then the rest of the razor... so when I read the tang stamp, I got a bit of a shock when I didnt see, H.Boker or Henry Boker ect, it was spelt 'Heinr Boker & Co, (no 'Y' at the end of henry and an ummlatte, sorry for the spelling, above the 'O'.
At first I thaught Oh thats cool, it must be a German market one rather then American?, but then I checked around on the web, and could come up with no tang stamp matching this one,, and NO images of the razor at all on Google images... which left me feeling perhaps ive got myself a pair of duds. But I have heard that fake vintage straights are not very common at all thankfully so, well I duno.. I will post some pics, If I can figure out how,,, and maybe one of you guys will be able to tell me firstly , that it is a Boker razor,, and secondly perhaps roughly when it was made>>. from what I could gather on the web, its 1932--1944 (WW2) but I am probably well out!
The blade is also a size that I have never seen any other Boker razor images for.. a 13/16,, closer to a 7/8 then a 6/8 for sure
Either way they are really good shavers, and they looked to be pretty much new after a little clean up,, little or Zero hone wear ect
Anyway sorry for the long rant,, cheers guys, all the best, will try post pics now..

Never seen a Boker like that. Irony here is that if per chance it IS a counterfeit, that just might make it all that more valuable/collectable. Bogus Bokers are not common at all.

Thanked: 3225Yup very nice and very real Bokers. The Heinr is the short form of Heinrich.

Thanked: 2Thanks for the responses, so I guess the consensus is that they are real? I did think they must be, just the spelling on tang threw me off, cheers for the info guys,, I normally go with Sheffield makers out of patriotism (and availability) but the solingen razors I do have really shave nicely too!

Thanked: 4206Enjoy your Bokers.
My first, and still one of my favorite blades is a Boker. Great steel from Solingen, and wonderful edges on their razors.
Cheers.

It is the correct spelling, it's a german company after all. Take a look at the 'legal info' on their website:

Thanked: 2Thanks,, yea I've only shaved once with it,, and it truly was butter smooth,. Even with my newbie techniques!
I often get confused with Boker, and the whole Boker US thing... Is it after WW2 they relocated to the USA? Or have they always been based in solingen, with a sister company in the USA? Either way, yes I think Heinrich is quite a cool German name,, guess it's a bit long for a tang stamp so they shortened it to Heinr.

Thanked: 3225From Boker's site https://www.boker.de/us/history.html , that should help clear up a few things for you. Yes, they do have a bit of confusing history. In English good old Heinrich would be called Henry so you really did have that right technically.
