wade and butcher protruding heal
passed on a WB smiley wedge today because i was unsure of the wear. there didn't seem to be a lot of hone wear on the spine or a extra wide bevel but the heal wasn't in line with the rest of the blade. sort of protruded, a smooth transition maybe 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch. were they made that way ever? or was it just honed uneven? sorry no pictures don't have a smart phone and the proprietor was standing there anyway.

If I understand what you mean correctly, I would guess that it has been honed improperly, where most of the blade except for the heel was continuously honed.

Pics would help a lot. It could have been reground. I can almost guarantee that it wasn't made that way.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

No, not made that way. Simply bad honing.
