Default Dovo Full Hollow Carbon Steel 5/8 Straight Razor

This seems like a basic straight razor, and is on Amazon for about $100. I believe its model is "Best Quality". Any thoughts on whether this would be good or bad for a first straight razor? I've been using a Merkur DE for about 3 years. Considering taking the plunge.

It should be a good razor, but there are other online stores that will sell it to you for the same price but already professionally honed. Some will also give you a certificate for a free second honing after you mess up the edge while learning to strop.

Thanks AZBronco. I notice in the comments on Amazon the general complaint that it needed to be honed, which not everyone is up to (including me, I suppose).

I would start of with a used one from the Classified section here. I bought my razor here and received it shave ready. there's actually a nice one for $58.00 and its probably better than the entry level Dovo.

The classifieds here constantly turning. They are usually such good deals they don't last long, so be sure to check often.

Straight razor designs sells the same razor for around $90 and it comes with a free hone as well as a second free hone.
