Thanked: 1Recieved my Ralf Aust
First shave went really well. I did ignore the beginner tips that Lynn said but I did so because it was comfortable and the angle was very easy for me to find and maintain for the most part. Keep in mind I was going snail pace and didnt get every last bit of stubble in two passes. I will say though that it was just as close as my normal DE shave. I cleaned up with my iKon slant. Now I did nick my neck right around the adams apple. Also there is a small spot on my cheeks and one small spot on my neck that is mildly irritated. I will not say it was a perfect shave or the best shave ever. I cant however deny that it was a really good shave. I plan to just keep going slow during the shaves.

Thanked: 20Congrats on your first shave. Dont be discouraged if the second one doesn't go as well. My first shave went well but the following 2 or 3 were a blood bath.

Thanked: 1JReed you are dead on correct! I nicked myself pretty good today! I'm definitely not discouraged brother. I still love straight shaving. I am actually proud of my nick. Its a good one to. I feel like its a reminder to respect the razor. The shave was still good but no where near perfect. I have a lot of practice to do. One good thing was yesterday I stropped my razor after the shave a bit, and today I stropped prior to the shave. I was really scared I was messing up my razor. Luckily I did not. It felt exactly the same as yesterday. So I just need to keep practicing that and comtinue to go slowly. Well thats my update. Im extremely proud of todays shave.

Good choice for a first straight razor. Take your time with the learing curve and while you are shaving always know exactly where that blade edge is against your face.
