Shavette question
I just ought this cool little shavette. Its cheaply made no-name brand little shavette i bought at a chinese beauty supply store.
question is, what the hell kind of blades does it take? It only came with one. The blades look just likethe razor blades you would buy in a hardware store (No. 9 Blade) except its longer and more narrow.
Ill include pics when i get home. Any help would be great. Thanks

A picture would help, but some shavettes have custom blades that fit them. It is almost like they designed them not to take regular DE/SE blades...

Oh ok thank you. Nice to be here.
And yes i have a regular shavette also. The one im talking about does not take the DE blades snapped in half

Dovo makes slightly longer blades for their shavette (it comes with multiple inserts so it can be used with that or with a half-DE).
If it came from a beauty supply, it might also use the Weck hair shaper blades - I think Personna makes these type as well.
Edit: here's a pic of the hair shaper blades:

There's shavettes and then there's Feather shavettes. Not even comparable.

Thanked: 171The "cheaply made no-name brand little shavette i bought at a chinese beauty supply store" pretty much precludes that we are talking Feather AC here, agreed?
In fact, while I believe that the Feather AC is far superior to any "Shavette" style razor I do have a hard time calling the Feather AC a "Shavette" because it handles more like a straight, even if its replaceable blades don't require any stropping or honing.
Going back to the original question, with the notable exception of Dovo Shavettes that can take various blades depending on color-coded plastic insert, most Shavettes use DE blades broken in half.

Ah yes, Taborcarn, thank you. It is a hair shaper. Too bad because i like it as a shaver. I especially like the blades. It feels much more rigid than the thin DE blades. But may be bad to have with.

Thanked: 171
If you like the blade, the Dovo Shavette with the GREEN holder (sold separately) will take these Personna blades. The Dovo Shavette is sold from around $33 upwards and additional colour-coded holders for various blade types can be bought for around $2.
The green holder is officially discontinued but still widely available.
Just google "DOVO Shavette green holder".
While you're at it, I suggest to buy the black holder for the long Dovo proprietary blade. Except for length, they look like DE razor blades but will give you a longer edge than DE blades. They give a smoother shave than the Personna hair trimmer blade IMO and are more economical too (box of 10 long Dovo blades that make 20 Shavette blades for $15 vs $5 for 5 Personna blades).
Good luck.
