Default Mastro Livi GIANT Straight Razor!

I am very glad to show you all this new straight razor made by Mastro Livi. As you can see in the picture below, it is a straight razor in genuine Mastro Livi style, like so many others made by this great and unique Italian artisan. It has the lovely Livi Point - also known as "snake point" - and the scales are made from Thuya Burl. Beautiful and stunning, isn't it? I can tell you for sure, it is.
Look at the picture carefully. Don't you notice anything fancy or special?

No? Well, take a look at this picture now.

Can you see something fancy now? Look at the razor on the right. Lovely little straight razor, isn't it? Well, it is not a little straight razor: it simply is a regular straight razor, one of the many made by Mastro Livi, a 7/8 in this case.
The bigger razor is a Giant Straight Razor - And I mean Giant! - completely made by hand, from cutting to honing, by Mastro Livi!
I had the honor and privilege to be present at his workshop while he was making this huge wonder and I personally watched the whole making. Simply amazing!
Mastro Livi wanted to make such a Giant Razor to be displayed in exhibitions and it will be publicly displayed for the very first time at the Culter Expo of Novegro (Milan, Italy) on November 1st and 2nd, 2014. If you happen to be in Milan, the view of such a unique wonder is worth the ride. And I can tell you for sure, any picture will not do justice to it. If you can see it in person, you will understand what I mean.
The Giant Straight Razor will permanently be displayed in Mastro Livi workshop and anyone visiting it will have the chance to admire it. Come one, come all!

As the making of this colossal masterpiece certainly was a unique chance, I asked Mastro Livi if I could make a video of this magnificent Giant Straight Razor in order to share that with all the wet shaving community on the internet.

Here it is the summary of specifications:

    Blade height: 3 1/16 inches
    Scales: Thuya Burl
    Grinding: Full Hollow
    Point: Livi/Snake Point

The making of this Giant Straight Razor took two working days and a full night.

By the way, in case you are wondering whether this Giant Straight Razor does shave, yes, it really does! I guess it is not so easy to hold it in your hand and use it like a regular straight razor, but this Giant Wonder has been capable of cutting hair with no effort at all. Keen and very sharp!

Here it is the video of the making of Mastro Livi's Giant Straight Razor. Enjoy it!

I wonder how long it has been since someone made a giant razor like that for display at expositions. I think he has resurrected an old tradition and good for him in doing it. A wonderful way to showcase his abilities and skills.

Mastro Livi actually stropped the giant razor before doing the hair test. It was not that easy, tough.

That seems a reasonable tip, I will tell Mastro Livi. I however wonder about the grit of those hones!!!
