Oh, he was telling the truth, you just missed it. He was ABSULUTLY being honest.

no CIRCUMSTANTIAL evidence. That is because all the evidence is DIRECTLY proven, and not circumstantial at all!

Trimmer? What's that? I just reach up and yank the offending ones out.

    1. $40 for a barber shop shave WITH A MACH 3!? Me and a lot of guys I know would gladly pay $40 to get that razor as far as possible from our faces.

    2. 12 Dermatologists surveyed and 100% shave with modern cartridge razors, canned goo, and yes, even electric razors. And these guys are supposed to be experts? Pish says I, nay, I call shennanigans on the lot!

"Every time we add a blade, the comfort of the shave increases"- A Gillette paid researcher (just a bit of a bias there)

"We have no circumstantial evidence that multi blade razors cause ingrown hairs" The same clueless dolt quoted above (I'd see your zero circumstantial evidence and raise you a ton of real world testimonials that say likewise.)

Roughly translated this article says, "Hey, stop asking questions and just keep paying whatever we tell you to pay for this garbage. We've released the findings most beneficial to the bottom line of Gillette and they are beyond reproach"

Now maybe I'm getting old and crochety but the traditional gear DOES deliver a better shave, a wolverine does NOT make a great house pet and the Emperor is completely naked. Furthermore, I'm not a huge fan of someone pissing down my back and telling me it's raining!
It was a major revelation in my life to discover just how great shaving was with the old time equipment.

I did try that once, but after pulling the first one out, I couldn't see the others because of all the tears...

Yeah, it stings a bit. The first one's easy. The rest you find by feel.

Re: Nose hair trimmer- When I was a kid my uncle would often singe errant nose hairs with a butane lighter (now that's hard core). I use a small battery operated gizmo. If I miss a Sunday my ears bear a striking resemblance to the Lord of the manner (an aging male tom cat)

@California Cajun: You and me both brother. I started traditional shaving in 2006 and have wondered why I didn't start sooner every since. It has turned shaving into an indespensible part of each day. Before it was complete drudgery and I relished every day I could avoid it.

FWIW, the Gillette face shaving expert was a woman. I'm not trying to incite a political debate or anything but it would seem that she has about as much credibility as an "expert" in men's shaving as I would being an expert in menstral cramps. There's an old saying "Don't try to describe the scenery if you've never seen it" that comes to mind. Obviously she's tested the hell out of the Mach whatever, the Quivering Fusion and the new Rolly Ball (Dyson model) razor. I wonder if they tested anything like a 1959 Fat Boy, A Merkur Slant or heaven forbid a fixed blade straight razor using the same test criteria. I'd bet they didn't; it would be far too damaging to their pre-determined results.

The problem, as always, is money!!! Gillette and such like companies can add a new blade, change the colour and shape of the handle and hey presto... a new razor and they can charge more for it. Add some swish advertising and people are convinced that new razor is so much better than their old one (which isn't actually old 'cos they change the head).

Personally, I'd like to see some of the straight razor makers, Dovo, Boker etc, try some tv advertising. Why not?

Even if some people tried it, decided it wasn't for them, there'd be more second hand beauties for sale!!

I find that true, else I wouldn't have a couple of hundred straights laying around in various shades of repair of and disrepair.
