Hey just an update from my 11/15 post. I bought ANOTHER a Theirs-Issard !! This time a 6/8 sheep and Wolf in horn scales honed and bought from SRD. I love Don and Lynn I wish I knew who honed it because this baby sings ! The C135 steel ( Silver Steel ) is amazing, my Spartacus is also C135. This proves even more to me the quality of TI. A friend on a Facebook group of mine preferred Boker... I agree awesome blade and he didn't like TI. We both bought the S&W mine in 6/8 his in 7/8 guess who loves TI now !!! Yup he does now too, doesn't change Boker being awesome, but shows TI makes a quality blade. An issue IMHO is the exception and far from the rule. Especially in the hands of Lynn Abrams or Don Addleman of SRD.
Oh here's a picture btw

I love this razor !
My first razor was an entry level 1937 Special Coiffeur Black 6/8. A year later it is my favorite with the most comfortable shave of my razors. I'm still on the learning curve but my TI's are the kindest to my face. My second TI 1937 had a funky bevel and with a good Hone Master it was corrected of its minor flaws.
It's been one year now and I just sent my TI's to gssixgun for honing. Nothing like a fresh honed razor. :y
TBH, I would recommend to go Vintage. I have had about 4 later TI's in-hand and would prefer the only 1 Aust I have honed. If brand-new is desirable, go Aust. JMO
Still...go vintage!:D
I have two or three '69's. One has a cracked scale but it doesn't affect it. I might make some new scales for it one day. I got it off eBay probably a year ago as "for parts" so I got it cheap. I have two or three of the others too, one has nice spine work done to it. The newer ones aren't as good as the older ones though!!!!:tu
Not a fan of TI, they look like glorified GD's to me in pic's. I had one in hand earlier this year, that someone needed a chip removed from and it still didn't change my opinion, they look cheap. I'd buy a Ralf Aust every time over a TI
But this is purely aesthetics' for me, I'm sure they're great shavers...
I agree with the Ralf Aust "new" idea. I own 3 Aust razors also, while I love TI I use my Aust razor more often. You also cannot touch the price to quality ratio with Ralf Aust. Here is my 6/8 Ralf Aust Spanish point in olive wood scales. Also from SRD, and from a price standpoint is just as good as my TI's IMHO and was nearly $100 less !

And for around $100 here us an Aust 5/8 round point that I use pretty often as well.

I still think TI is a top tier razor, but for the price Aust is king and my vintage Boker 1056 is hard to beat as well ! This is about 100 years old and keeps up with any new blade period. It's just great steel. Side by side with my TI "Spartacus"
