    Default Revisor vs Aust and a question

    Revisor vs Aust? And, if Revisor...

    Where the heck is the 'buy' link on their page? I so totally can't find it...

    Both razors are very good quality. You have to email them with your razor purchase request. If you want a shave-ready edge go for the Aust, if you don't mind sending it out for honing or you hone yourself, then you can go for the Revisor.

    Revisor offers NOS razors, razors ground from NOS blanks and fit with matching scales, and new razors. Aust offers new razors only. I would vouch for either maker, and have yet to see a razor of theirs that is not shave ready out of the box. If you are in the US, Aust razors can conveniently ordered from Straight Razor Designs, whereas Revisor will ship from Germany. Revisor also uses natural hones for finishing, so they will not come "crazy scary sharp", but that is how they are typically used in Europe. A few swipes on diamond spray will get them even sharper (but also less comfortable in my opinion).

    I got a Revisor 6 to 8 months ago that was not any form of sharp at all. The factory edge was dismal.

    It IS a great razor though!

    So is anything from Aust!!

    About three years ago I purchased this from Revisor;

    6/8

    The factory edge was 'decent' but with a little time on my hones it is a wonderful shaver.

    I chose the 'Plain Jane' as etching and gold wash don't make the razor shave any better, it's just a waste of money in my opinion.

    I have purchased two from revisor. Send them an email and they will send you the price to pay with paypal. They are quick to ship. Maybe a week , week and a half from payment. Both of mine came with edges I could shave with comfortably but not perfect. Very little effort to take them to awesome was required. They are now two of my favorite razors

    +1 on what has been said. I ordered two revisors and they are beautiful but the Aust at $190 + is a better buy. My Revisors were by no means shave ready in fact one had damage to the edge. I was able to fix it fairly easily but if you don't hone be prepared to send it out. I am ordering another Revisor soon but I still think for the $$ the Aust is the better deal for you
