    Default New Razor

I need some advice. I just bought a razor form SRD. It is a Ralf Aust 6/8 full hollow spanish point with Olive wood handle. I didn't have a 6/8 cutthroat so I decided to try one. I paid $184 for it. My question is was this too much to pay for this razor? It's beautiful but was this price too much? Thanks

A good razor is worth what you pay for it. Ralf Aust makes good razors.

Do a Google search for his name.

While we don't allow evaluations on SRD, many people have paid much more for a razor. Ralf Aust is a great brand and SRD is a trusted vendor known to take care of its customers. I wouldn't worry if I were you. just take care of your new toy/tool and all will be well

    Edit: Damn.. Geezer beat me!

    Hey guys,
I've been using the SRP "Good straight razor brands" list as a rough guide. It has made it so much easier to shop around. Should I add Ralph Aust to my list? Good Straight Razor Brands - Straight Razor Place Library

if I bought a razor and liked it then I didn't pay too much, if I felt I was going to pay too much I would have kept walking and looked for another. if it shaves and you like it then it is worth the price of admission.

I don't own one myself (yet) but it is a well known and repuatable brand.

SRD has very competitive prices. The Aust is a good buy for what they get for them. I have seen them on ebay for more

The money you spent was a significant sum. At that price point there were many options available to you. But unless you find yourself somehow disappointed in the razor, I don't think you spent too much. New production razors are not cheap no matter the manufacturer. And the responses on Ralf Aust seem to be very enthusiastic. I've yet to hear anything bad about them. In any case, the money spent is water under the bridge at this point. Now is the time to focus on getting all of your money's worth from it with good use.

As far as modern production razors go, you cannot go wrong with Ralf Aust both with price and quality. You made a good choice.

SRD prices are lower than many places and you know they come shave ready and shipping is super fast.
