    Default Is Slightly Warped Normal?

Is it normal for a new straight razor to not sit perfectly flat on a hone? One of my razors (a Thiers-Issard) is sits perfectly flat on the heel and 2/3rds to 3/4ths of the razor sits flat, but towards the toe, it raises up off the hone just a tiny, tiny bit (maybe not even a millimeter to a millimeter max) I tried to get it to rock on my coticule like in this video but couldn't <span style="color: rgb(20, 24, 35); font-family: Helvetica, Arial, 'lucida grande', tahoma, verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;">

I was just about to write and say: that's no Thiers, that's a Dovo... but then I read your post. If you are absolutely sure the stone is flat (try it on a marble tile or something else you know to be flat) then you should send the blade back and get a replacement .... (have you tried laying it on the other side? do you see that it rests on the toe and heel but is up in the middle? Have you lapped your hone properly? so many questions)

The razor you show seems to have a serious amount of miles on it and not new production.
The hone wear is way beyond only a couple honings. So either you have an old razor or you really ruined any chance of a warranty / rebate from a new one.
So, if it is new then it may be bad from the factory. Production is pushed the limit and mistakes happen. You or whoever honed the razor made it impossible to return

Read information and warranty before buying!

Richard, that's not his blade, just a demonstration of what he's seeing

I lapped it last week but I'm not quite sure if I got it truly flat or not.

if the blade show the same warping on both sides, it's not flat (if on one side the blade lifts at the end, then if the blade is warped it should lift in the middle on the other side... if it lifts on the end on both sides.... it's not really lifting, the stone is dropping)

It sucks when this happens. But it does happen. I've had vintage and new production razors suffer from this. The problem is not fun but it doesn't mean that you won't be able to get a good edge on your razor. You'll just need to be more savvy about your honing. You might need to employ a rolling x stroke or even hone the tip and heel separately. I have one razor where the bevel was set at the hell 2/3, then set on the first 1/3. The razor shaves great now. But honing it requires a little more effort. Sometimes a couple layers of tape helps, other times not.

To clarify, I don't think the spine is warped, maybe just the edge?
