The times when you realize just how good straight razor shaving is...
I'm on a short, 24 hr trip to Florida so didn't want to check bags - meaning no straight razors. This is what I just shaved with. I swear I spent about as long shaving with this as I normally do with my straights, did 6-7 passes, and still stubble. I don't know anymore how I ever did this in the past. And I did use stuff just like this for many, many years.

Thanked: 37I went to England recently, packed my DE but no blades, of course. I tried to find DE blades to no avail. So then I went looking for a disposable, which I hadn't used in 4 years. I'm not closed to disposables, they have their purpose, but I like the environmentally friendly aspect of the straight and DE. Finally, I found a place that sold single disposables and shaved with it. I used my pre shave oil, Omega synthetic with Palmolive soap stick. That helped but that thing had no weight, compared to the straight. I shaved twice with it. It does the job but is like driving a delivery truck, compared to a sports car. Necessary evil, sometimes.

These days I will pack a DE and either hope I can find blades or mail them ahead (if possible). Or just not shave while traveling.

Thanked: 3225Well, don't fly too much anymore but last time was 2 years ago. On a 3 week holiday I used twin blade disposables, a shave stick and a brush. Worked just fine. Had to retrain myself when I got back to use much less weight on the razor though. I'd agree it is a necessary evil.
