Thanked: 1276/8" Wedge, Thomas, 23 Bull Street Birmingham Double Concave, any Infos?
Got this nice Double Concave Wedge today, cleaned it and removed the Rust but as you can see there are many pits and discolorations remaining, but its prevented from further suffering.
Its 6/8" wide (im sure it was about 13/16" or more when it was young) with typical english Horn Scales.
Honing was a hard Job, the Bevel was good and without nicks but it took me seven layers of tape to get at the top of the edge, as you can see i created a big big bevel when i tried to use two layers of tape for the first strokes (i was a bit naive). Now it makes a good Hair Test and seems very smooth but i wonder who produced it, has anyone infos of this Razor or maybe the blanket that was used?

Thanked: 884Nice old razor.
The maker is listed as an ironmonger
The term ironmonger as a supplier of consumer goods is still widely used in Great Britain, the US equivalent being "hardware store". Many architectural ironmongery items (for example, door handles, locks, hinges, etc.) are also manufactured for wholesale and commercial use in offices and other buildings.
In the second half of the 19th century, Victorian ironmongery offered a treasurehouse of appealing metalwork, with elaborate manufacturers’ catalogues offering literally thousands of objects to meet each and every need, almost all of which sought to combine practicality with pleasing design.
If this is the case, he had items made and marked with his name.Member Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club, participant SE Asia War Games 1972-1973. The oath I swore has no statute of limitation.

That grind is a winner. Some of my favored blades, though lighter, have similar grinds.
Nice Catch!
