Default 1950s skinning knife for $9

Or at least that is what the person at a consignment shop in NC said it was...

And for $9 I wasn't going to let it sit there.

    James Barlow and Sons (1826 - 1856)
    Manufacturers Sheffield
    Corporate Mark
    TORO
7/8 true wedge stub tail with barber notch, horn scales, and lead wedge.

Lots of patina and not a lot of hone wear. The pivot hole has about 1/16" of slop in it so I'll have to fix that. The wedge is loose as well.
A repin is in order, but for now I've got it soaking in neatsfoot to get the scales flexible enough to remove the pins without cracking.

Man - lets just hope he wasn't referring to it by its nick-name .

It is always a possibility, but I have looked at pictures of other Barlows from the same period and several of them had the exact same heel. So either it is supposed to be like that, or a bunch of them all broke in the same place.

Great score there. Should clean up well.
