From the look of it I'd wager it is a razor like object, but not a viable shaving razor ........ I could be wrong, I was wrong once before.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 3224There must be a reason that Damascus steel razors from a known quality maker are normally 10x or more that this one in price Boker Damascus Stainless Straight Razor 5/8" Blade, Synthetic Handles - KnifeCenter - 140600DAM . If it is too good to be true it usually is. I'd go along with the first 2 posters.

I always contact seller and ask "What is the country of origin of the blade please?."
Response is ALWAYS "offshore" or 'Pakistan" but assembled in.......
No thank you for me. Wait I did get suckered for one of their pocket knives. They were asking $300 best offer and I go and low ball them for grins at $50
And BAM they accept it on the spot. Yeah I got over on. But it is a pretty letter opener. Get less letters each year ,so it is becoming drawer clutter. But I see the $50 bill I spent and cant let it go. Doesnt hold and edge for nothing.
It does if you take it to my grandpas power grinding wheel used for farm tools and lawnmower blades. Dont remove the burrs after wheel and it cuts just fine.Your only as good as your last hone job.

Pas on it unless you just want to use as a letter opener ,, but then again most letter openers have better steel. In them. Tc

I agree with all of the above gentlemen, and Ultrasoundguy is right it is from Pakistan I did some checking a while back. It would make a great pocket knife but would not be a shaver for your face. It's a beautiful day somewhere I hope!

Thanked: 995From a maker's perspective, the operative warning phrase is "layers of high carbon welded to low carbon....Rockwell 58-60..."
High carbon welded to low carbon (in plain steels) will produce an average/medium carbon steel in most cases. There are exceptions but those will be rare and exceptional conditions given the typical product of a razor like object. I would have expected different marketing boilerplate for something that special.

Thanked: 1Well the fact the seller never replied to my question if the razor passes the hht is enough for me.
Pretty but useless for shaving I think.
He sells knives too. Pakistan damascus. Can buy them by the dozen dirt cheap.
Thanks for all the comments btw.
